☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeAn anthology issue featuring Captain Triumph in "Another Slam Bang Action-Packed Story" and Pen Miller, a cartoonist detective who finds material for his pen and ink stories in his own detective work. In the Pen Miller story, the cartoonist receives word that "Swifty" McGore wants to make peace and requests a phone call at nine o'clock to discuss forgiveness, leading to a planned meeting. The issue also contains a comedic story involving a nearsighted man named Bumble who mistakes his new female neighbor's affectionate gestures toward her daughter as romantic advances toward himself, resulting in various misunderstandings and physical comedy.
When Captain Triumph answers a desperate phone call from his friend Kim Meredith at the airport, he discovers a horrifying scene: everyone there has died screaming in agony, and Kim has vanished. Pursued by the sinister Raven—who holds Kim hostage and demands mysterious government documents—Captain Triumph must unravel the connection between a missing Dr. Marion, a secret military invention, and the terrible weapon that leaves victims shrieking in their final moments. With bodies piling up and the truth fragmenting with each clue, the race is on to stop Raven before he uses the blueprints to unleash destruction beyond measure.
Cabbie Hack O'Hara gets more than he bargained for when a corpse shows up in his taxi with a note directing him to deliver it to a mysterious figure called Satan—and Hack, smelling a setup and a payday, decides to collect his fare and investigate. What he finds at the address is a twisted con game far darker than he expected, one that pulls him into a nightmare den and forces him to team up with an old enemy just to survive. It's all in a night's work for New York's roughest cabby, who'd rather throw punches than call the cops.
