Who is Lance Gallant?

Lance Gallant was the deceased twin brother of Michael Gallant; when Lance was killed, his ghost gained the ability to merge with Michael, transforming him into the superhuman Captain Triumph. The brothers could unite by Michael touching a birthmark shaped like a thunderbolt on his wrist.

Born into the Golden Age at the height of wartime comics' creative surge, Lance Gallant made his debut in Crack Comics #28 in 1943, brought to life by Bernard Dibble for Quality Comics β€” a publisher that gave the world some of the era's most inventive heroes. What makes Lance especially intriguing is the company he keeps: his adventures unfold alongside the likes of Captain Triumph, Michael Gallant, Plastic Man, and Eel O'Brian, placing him squarely in a rich corner of the Quality universe. The fact that his presence echoes across nearly 75 years of comics history, from 1943 all the way to 2017 and including appearances in All-Star Squadron, speaks to a staying power that rewards the dedicated collector willing to dig into the Golden Age's most rewarding corners.
