Conan the Barbarian #72

From 1977, this March issue of Conan the Barbarian promises sword-swinging mayhem in "Vengeance in Asgalun," with the cover declaring Conan and Bêlit standing back-to-back against a teeming press of demons and monsters. Gil Kane and Ernie Chan's cover art packs the frame with gloriously grotesque creatures — fanged beasts, tentacled horrors, snarling imps, and clawed fiends — while a grimly determined Conan raises his broad sword and Bêlit fights defiantly at his side. It's a vivid showcase of the kind of savage, imaginative adventure that made this series one of Marvel's most beloved of the era.
