Bêlit
Bêlit was a fierce Shemitish pirate queen who commanded the black corsairs aboard her ship the Tigress, raiding the coasts of the Western Ocean. She became one of the most legendary figures in the Hyborian Age after crossing paths with the barbarian Conan.
Few figures in Bronze Age sword-and-sorcery shine as fiercely as Bêlit, who burst onto the scene in the landmark debut issue of The Savage Sword of Conan in 1974 — a creative collaboration between the legendary Robert E. Howard's source material and the comics talents of Roy Thomas and Barry Smith. Born from the pulp mythology Howard wove decades earlier, she found vivid new life on the comics page and has proven enduring enough to keep appearing well into the 2020s, a remarkable span of over fifty years. Her world is one of high adventure and dark sorcery, and the company she keeps — Conan, Red Sonja, Valeria, King Kull — tells you everything about the grand, blood-and-thunder tradition she belongs to. With her own dedicated series, Bêlit and Valeria: Swords vs Sorcery, she's stepped fully into the spotlight she's always deserved, making her essential reading for any fan of heroic fantasy comics.
