Now under the secret control of Baron Gerned and the sorcerer Bhutra Mamnon, the group seeks the king’s corpse and a blood-red gem said to hold the power to restore their realm—though the gem’s true curse is far deadlier than any treasure. With art by John Buscema and inks by Rudy Nebres and Pablo Marcos, and a cover by Vin Evans, this 1997 Semic issue delivers a classic sword-and-sorcery tale of greed, magic, and survival.

Conan och förra slavflickan Sorcha följer en skattkarta till en gammal ruin. De övermannas av en expedition sänd från ett rike som tidigare styrdes av den vise kung Nekros, men baron Gerned konspirerade med magikern Bhutra Mamnon för att ta över makten. Kungen skyddades dock av en magisk sköld och det krävdes en ädelsten formad i blod för att döda honom. Nu söker expeditionen kungens lik och juvelen för att återställa rikets välstånd. När de hittar ädelstenen blir alla galna av girighet och dödar varandra. Conan och Sorcha undkommer med nöd och näppe, och juvelen begravs för alltid.
