Conan and former slave girl Sorcha follow a treasure map to an ancient ruin. They are captured by an expedition from a kingdom once ruled by the wise King Nekros. Baron Gerned conspired with the magician Bhutra Mamnon to take over the throne, but the king was protected by a magic shield, and it took a jewel forged in blood in order to kill him. Now, the expedition seeks the corpse of the king and the jewel to restore their kingdom to its former glory. As they find the jewel, the soldiers are overcome by greed and kill each other. Conan and Sorcha barely escape alive, but the jewel is lost.
