In "The Creature from the End of Time!", the Challengers of the Unknown race to uncover the mystery of a massive box that materializes in Toronto, dragging along the Marsh Creature and Deadman in their quest. As they follow the trail to Rip Hunter’s abandoned lab, they use the Time Sphere to journey 12 million years into the future—only to find Rip and his team enslaved by the Lords of Dusk. With danger closing in and the future hanging in the balance, the heroes must act fast before time itself unravels.
In "Chapter 1: The Box from Beyond," a colossal crate materializes in Toronto, drawing the Challengers of the Unknown, the Creature of the Marshes, and Deadman into a mystery that stretches across time. When the box is traced to a distant future, the team journeys to Rip Hunter’s abandoned lab and uses his time sphere to leap 12 million years ahead—only to find Rip and his allies ensnared by the enigmatic Lords of Dusk. As the present-day Prof faces a mutant lizard from the future, the heroes must unravel a conspiracy that spans millennia.
In "Chapter 2: Monsters and Men" from Challengers of the Unknown #85, the team confronts a mysterious box that unleashes a terrifying creature when Deadman attempts to open it. After defeating the beast, they transport the box and its remains to Challenger Mountain, where tests reveal the strange object originated from the future.
In "Chapter 3: Flight Into the Future" from *Challengers of the Unknown* #85, the team journeys to Rip Hunter’s desert lab only to find it empty—until Swamp Thing triggers a hidden mechanism, revealing Rip’s Time Sphere with a skeleton inside. With no time to spare, they activate the device and hurtle into the distant future, landing amid shattered ruins where they’re confronted by enigmatic future-men and a ragged, crowned Rip Hunter.
