The cover of this December 2001 issue says it all with two simple words — "Uh oh." — as Cerebus the aardvark clutches something tightly while an impressive fan of ornate, decorated muskets radiates around him like a very unwelcome halo. Dave Sim's cover art turns a minimalist composition into something genuinely unsettling, the elaborate craftsmanship of those weapons contrasting sharply with Cerebus's small, hunched figure. "Latter Days 8" continues Aardvark-Vanaheim's long-running self-published saga, and this striking image makes a compelling case for picking it up.
