“Endgame Part 1”

Part one of "Endgame" arrives in June 1994 with one of the most quietly unsettling covers in the long run of Cerebus — a framed rectangle of pale marble splattered with dark crimson droplets, set against an ornate gold-and-black lattice pattern. The stark contrast between that decorative elegance and the ominous staining does a great deal of atmospheric work without showing a single character. Dave Sim and Gerhard's cover design makes a confident statement that the Mothers & Daughters arc is heading somewhere weighty.
