Cerebus #182
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freePart of the ambitious "Mothers & Daughters" arc, this May 1994 issue from Aardvark-Vanaheim opens "Eyes Part 1" with a cover that is genuinely unsettling in the best way — a framed panel titled "EYES" depicts a dense, undulating mass of human eyes staring outward from what appears to be a curved, moon-like form, set against a rich black background decorated with repeating art nouveau-style medallions in blue and red. Dave Sim and Gerhard bring their customary precision to both the ornate patterned surround and the meticulously rendered eyes themselves, making the cover feel simultaneously decorative and deeply strange. It's the kind of image that lingers — thirty rows of watchful eyes that promise something philosophically weighty lies within.
