In "Today Earth Died!", a weary Nick Fury dozes in his office when a call from Val interrupts him—reporting a UFO over Manhattan. As a crowd gathers to witness the alien Vaengr emerge and offer the Prism of Miracles, a device said to end hatred and war, Fury, Val, and Dugan investigate the craft. What begins as a hopeful encounter quickly turns sinister when the alien’s true nature is revealed, and the team is caught in a horrifying transformation. Fury awakens in a cold sweat, only to be told by Dugan that a real UFO report has just come in—leaving the fate of Earth hanging in the balance.
