About this Collection

This Epic Collection volume brings together Captain America's adventures from the late 1970s, including issues #193-200 and Annual #4. The storyline sees Steve Rogers grappling with the aftermath of the Secret Empire scandal while facing threats like the Red Skull, Machinesmith, and a new version of the Whizzer. Guest appearances from the Beast, Hulk, and the Human Torch add to this transitional era for the Sentinel of Liberty.

In "By the Dawn's Early Light!", Captain America finds himself caught in a web of deception as he promotes a movie about his life—only to be targeted by the Nihilist Front and a mysterious savior known as Nomad. When a parade turns deadly and the Ameridroid strikes, Cap is captured, only to wake up facing a shocking twist: he’s about to star in a film that ends with his death—by the Red Skull’s hand. Written by J. M. DeMatteis and illustrated by Mike Zeck, with inks by Quickdraw Studios, colors by Bob Sharen, and letters by Novak and Parker, this gripping tale features a cover by John Byrne and Joe Rubinstein.
