Marvel's beloved parody series reaches its twelfth issue with a cover that captures everything Not Brand Echh does best — a gag-packed mob scene set at the "Marble Club House," where a flower-bedecked, grinning Frankenstein's monster bursts through the door sending caricatured versions of Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Thing, Thor, Iron Man, Daredevil, Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer, and more scrambling in all directions, with the punchline delivered in two perfectly timed word balloons: "Why's everyone running?" / "He's got BAAAD breath!" Marie Severin's cartooning is wonderfully expressive here, wringing maximum comedic chaos out of every corner of the image. If you ever wanted proof that superhero comics could be genuinely funny in 1969, this cover makes the case before you even open the book.
