Mabu returns from Chatanga's hut with his small loom and his weaving and enters the campsite of his father and the other hunters. He is told by Lomai and Dalu that Hamasai, Kaino and four others have gone to the far mountains to track a leopard. Mabu shows them his weaving and each sees different things in it. Later Mabu visit's Bwana Hall's store where he mistakes the emerging bird from a cuckoo clock as an evil spirit. The clerk laughs.
