“The Moon's a Balloon”

The cover tagline says it all — "It's up, up, and away with inflatable weirdness!" — and Paris Cullins and Rick Magyar deliver on that promise with a chaotic, sky-high scene featuring a woman in red dangling from a hot-air balloon basket while a massively inflated, balloon-like green figure looms overhead and a blue, horned figure pursues from behind, all while tiny bystanders scatter far below amid drifting balloons. Rounding out the fun, a contest-winner cameo medallion in the corner announces a real fan guest-starring alongside the cast, which is a charming bit of mid-1980s reader engagement. Dan Mishkin, Alan Kupperberg, and Bill Collins bring "The Moon's a Balloon" to life in what looks like one of the series' most gleefully offbeat installments.
