Darwyn Cooke's cover for this December 2013 New 52 installment is a genuine treat — rendered in a sleek, retro-animation style, it shows Batwing soaring arms-wide across a bold orange sky, his black tech-suit traced with fine blue circuit lines as Gotham's angular skyline rises below him. The spotlight circle at his back and the massive bat-symbol framing the composition give the whole image a theatrical, almost cinematic energy. With Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray on writing duties and Eduardo Pansica and Júlio Ferreira handling interior art, "I Can't Catch a Break" looks like a sharp, stylish chapter in the series.
