La historia comienza con Bruce Wayne, aparentemente en el futuro, atado a una destrozada bati-señal con la ciudad ardiendo a su alrededor. De vuelta en el presente el Professor Pyg pelea contra el Comisionado Gordon y Batman, cuando los hombres de Pyg huyen, se deben dividir para atraparlos. Gordon persigue y acorrala a Grady en el subterráneo. Gordon le dispara al criminal armado, pero su disparo da en un registro eléctrico que explota y que ocasiona que dos trenes colisionen.
