Avengers: Twilight was described by Zdarsky himself as 'years in the making,' a project developed in close collaboration with artist Daniel Acuña, who handled pencils, inks, and colors throughout the entire run — an unusually unified visual approach for a mainstream Marvel title. The series was shepherded editorially by Tom Brevoort, one of Marvel's most senior editors, who co-hosted a pre-launch retailer conference alongside Zdarsky to brief shops on the series' scope before issue #1 shipped in January 2024; issue #2 followed on January 31, 2024, with a cover date of March 2024. Alex Ross provided the primary cover paintings across the run, including for this issue, while multiple incentive variant covers were commissioned from artists including Greg Smallwood and Phil Noto, pointing to Marvel's high commercial expectations for the series from its outset.
