Genosha has erupted into war between humans and mutates, and the U.N. commands the Avengers to stay out of the conflict. The team decides to disobey when they discover that the man responsible for the chaos, Fabian Cortez, has kidnapped Crystal's daughter, Luna. Professor X and Beast are asked to be part of the official delegation to Genosha, but Xavier secretly commands the X-Men to meet up with them once they arrive. Cortez broadcasts his anti-human mandate to the world.
