Astonishing X-Men #8
This second volume of the 2012 Astonishing X-Men series collects the 'Dangerous' story arc, where the team faces a threat from within their own headquarters as the Danger Room becomes sentient and turns against them. Written by Joss Whedon with art by John Cassaday, the narrative focuses on the X-Men's personal dynamics, particularly Kitty Pryde and Colossus's relationship, while they confront a rogue artificial intelligence that challenges their trust and safety.
In "Children of the Brood Part 1," Danger’s desperate mission to rescue a mysterious electronic soul leads her and Emma Frost aboard the Secret Avengers' quincarrier, where they confront Machinesmith in a dangerous battle across both digital and physical realms. Written by James Asmus and brought to life with sharp, dynamic art by David Yardin and Gabriel Hernández Walta—enhanced by Rachelle Rosenberg’s colors and Joe Caramagna’s lettering—this issue blends high-stakes espionage with psychological tension. The cover by Salvador Larroca captures the moment’s intensity, framing the clash between machine and mind.
