Astonishing X-Men #66

Phil Noto's striking cover for this August 2013 issue presents five mutant faces arranged in a tight, atmospheric collage — rendered almost entirely in grayscale with vivid pink accents that give the composition real energy. Among the figures, a winged character with dramatic markings dominates the center, while a snarling, fanged face with glowing pink eyes commands the lower right, and three other teammates round out the intense ensemble. With Marjorie Liu writing and Amilcar Pinna on art, colored by Cris Peter, this issue brings a distinctly moody, punk-influenced sensibility to the X-Men's ongoing story.
