“Ghost Box”

In "Ghost Box," the Astonishing X-Men settle into their new San Francisco base, where Storm arrives unexpectedly—fresh from Wakanda, eager to assess the team’s methods for Mutantes Sans Frontieres. With their new street clothes designed to blend in, they’re called to investigate a mysterious burning body, leading them to Chaparanga Beach, the forgotten graveyard of starships. Written by Warren Ellis and illustrated with striking detail by Simone Bianchi, this issue blends grounded tension with the surreal, all under a cover by Simone Bianchi and Andrea Silvestri.

The X-Men are settling into their new headquarters in San Francisco. Storm arrives, explaining that she convinced T'Challa to let her "scope out" the team's current methods as he is helping fund them through Mutantes Sans Frontieres; she was bored in Wakanda. She arrives in time to join the team in new street clothes designed to help them avoid anti-superhero sentiment, as they answer a call from the San Francisco police to help with a mysterious burning body. Clues found send the team, now switched to more traditional superhero gear, to Chaparanga Beach, the graveyard of starships.
