“Brute Farce”

In "Brute Farce," Little Archie and the Good Ol' Gang attempt a moon launch using a barrel and a giant slingshot, only to face a shortage of volunteers. When Ambrose shows up hoping to join the gang, the kids offer him a chance to prove himself—ride the rocket, and return alive. Written and drawn by Bob Bolling, with lettering and inking by the same, this 1975 annual features a delightfully absurd adventure, all capped off by Dan DeCarlo’s classic cover.

Little Archie and the Good Ol' Gang build a rocket out of a barrel and a giant slingshot, but can't find anyone who'll volunteer to go to the moon in it. When Ambrose comes by, trying to get into the Good Ol' Gang, the kids promise him that he can be part of the gang if he goes up in the rocket -- and if he comes back alive.
