“Bee on the Lookout”

In "Bee on the Lookout," Archie finds himself thrust into an unexpected role when a last-minute internship offer from the Riverdale Bugle lands in his hands just as he's heading to the beach. Forced to trade sun and sand for a questionable assignment, he stumbles into a surprise turn as a judge at a beachside beauty pageant—much to his own bewilderment. Written by George Gladir and brought to life with vibrant energy by Stan Goldberg (art), Bob Smith (inks), Barry Grossman (color), and Jack Morelli (lettering), this 2007 issue captures the charm and chaos of Riverdale with a classic, lighthearted twist. The cover by Stan Goldberg and Bob Smith perfectly frames the moment’s absurdity.

As Archie is heading to the beach, he gets a letter accepting him as an intern to the Riverdale Bugle, the local newspaper, but he has to start that same day. He begrudgingly accepts and gets sent on a bad assignment at the beach. But, as luck would have it, he ends up as a judge for a beauty pageant at that same beach.
