Poor Archie can't help himself — cover artists Stan Goldberg and Henry Scarpelli capture the ever-lovesick redhead visiting veterinarian Tom Katz's office, clutching his dog while clearly more smitten with the glamorous blonde receptionist on the phone than concerned about his pet. The gag is spelled out in the speech bubbles as she notes his dilated eyes and panting — "Not the dog! His owner!" — with hearts floating around a thoroughly besotted Archie. It's a perfectly timed slice of Riverdale humor from 1997, with Angelo DeCesare's story "Cancel My Trip" promising more of the same warm, funny charm inside.
