About the series
In the mid-1980s, French publisher Arédit-Artima brought the sword-and-sorcery epic Arak to European readers, reprinting and reworking the DC Comics series into a 10-issue run. The title follows a Native American warrior thrust into a fantastical, barbarian-filled world, with scripting credits shared by Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas, and Jean-Marc Lofficier. Visually, the series boasts a rotating roster of accomplished artists including Tony DeZuniga, Ernie Colón, and Carmine Infantino, lending a distinct, gritty energy to the prehistoric landscapes. Though short-lived, this edition stands as a notable example of how American comics were adapted and localized for international audiences in the 1980s.
