“Fox on the Run”

In "Fox on the Run," Grant Morrison and Chas Truog deliver a surreal, emotionally charged chapter where Animal Man’s mission to stop a fox hunt takes a bizarre turn as the line between reality and memory blurs. James Highwater seeks answers from the Psycho Pirate and the Mad Hatter, uncovering echoes of the pre-Crisis multiverse, while Vixen arrives at the Baker house, desperate for help against unseen enemies. As Animal Man is pulled apart by mysterious forces, the alien beings who granted him his powers make their long-awaited return—cover by Brian Bolland.

While Animal Man disrupts a fox hunt, James Highwater visits the Psycho Pirate, who along with The Mad Hatter, remembers the pre-Crisis multiverse. The Psycho Pirate gives Highwater a piece of paper showing the pre-Crisis origin of Animal Man. Meanwhile Vixen has arrived at the Baker house in search of help fighting invisible creatures. As Animal Man is literally unravelled by the creatures, the aliens who gave him his power arrive.
