All Star Western #28

Something is very wrong with Jonah Hex in this striking 2014 New 52 entry — the cover, penciled and inked by Darwyn Cooke, presents a clean-shaven, unscarred Hex in what appears to be a surgical setting, holding scissors and a cloth while the tagline declares him "His Own Worst Enemy." It's a genuinely unsettling image that trades Hex's trademark roughness for something far more clinical and strange. Writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with interior art by Staz Johnson and Fabrizio Fiorentino, keep this New 52 Western series in intriguing territory.
