All-New, All-Different Avengers #2

A horned, winged villain swoops down from above in Alex Ross's beautifully rendered cover for this 2016 Marvel series, bearing down on a team of heroes that includes Iron Man, Spider-Man, a young woman in civilian clothes, a green-clad figure, and — framed dramatically by Captain America's shield in the foreground — what looks to be a tense last stand in the making. Mark Waid's writing paired with Adam Kubert and Sonia Oback's interior art promises the kind of fresh, energetic Avengers storytelling that makes this relaunched lineup so compelling.
