“The Enchanted Mountain!”

In "The Enchanted Mountain!", Superman answers the desperate call of the villagers of Morabia, who fear the sudden appearance of a mysterious castle atop the Shaggy Mountains. Written by Jerry Siegel and illustrated by Joe Shuster, this 1945 tale blends myth and heroism as the Man of Steel confronts a wizard transformed into a giant falcon. The story unfolds in two timelines, with Lois Lane later reading the tale from a secondhand book—her own quiet tribute to the hero who once saved a forgotten village. Cover by Jack Burnley and Stan Kaye.

In the distant past, the small town of Morabia stands in the shadow of the Shaggy Mountains of south-eastern Europe. Miraculously, a castle appears atop a nearby mountain - that of the long-absent Wizard of Wokit. The terrified villagers cry out for a savior. Superman himself flies to their aid. On flying towards the castle, the wizard transforms into a giant falcon and they fight. After many tussles Superman destroys the mountain and the castle. In the present, Lois reads the story from a secondhand book she has bought. It is she who has transposed Superman for the champion of the village.
