Written by Jerry Siegel and illustrated by Joe Shuster, this 1945 tale blends myth and heroism as the Man of Steel confronts a wizard transformed into a giant falcon. The story unfolds in two timelines, with Lois Lane later reading the tale from a secondhand book—her own quiet tribute to the hero who once saved a forgotten village. Cover by Jack Burnley and Stan Kaye.
In the shadow of the Shaggy Mountains, the villagers of Morabia cry out as a mysterious castle rises from the peak—home to the long-lost Wizard of Wokit. When Superman answers their plea, the wizard transforms into a giant falcon, and the two clash in a battle that ends with the mountain’s destruction. Years later, Lois reads the tale from a worn book, imagining herself as the village’s savior—replacing the hero with the one she knows best.
