Action Comics #829
In "End of Identity Sacrifice Part 2," Superman stands at a breaking point—blood on his hands, memories fractured, and the truth of his actions in doubt. With Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, and Black Canary confronting him in the Fortress, the real story of what happened in Superman #219 begins to unravel, revealing a twisted version of events where Darkseid's manipulation leads to a horrifying choice. Written by Gail Simone and brought to life with bold, dynamic art by John Byrne—inked by Nelson and colored by Guy Major—this pivotal issue deepens the mystery of identity and control, while Tony S. Daniel’s cover captures the tension in sharp, striking detail.

In Superman's fortress, Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, and Black Canary confront Superman, who has blood on his hands. Superman tries to remember what happened, but now remembers differently the events of Superman #219. He remembers "Darkseid" kidnapping Lois, and forcing a boxing match between the two of them. After Superman wins on a technicality, "Darkseid" frees Lois from his control by killing her, which causes Superman to attack-to-kill "Darkseid". The JLA take Superman to the Watchtower, where they show him he really was attacking Batman, apparently under mind control.
