Cuckoo Bird
A quirky Silver Age curiosity, Cuckoo Bird made their DC debut in 1965's Superman #179, conjured by the legendary Otto Binder and Al Plastino right in the thick of that wonderfully imaginative era when the Superman titles were overflowing with bizarre and memorable creations. With a catalog presence stretching a surprising 25 years across Superman, Action Comics, and Adventures of Superman, this is a character who kept finding their way back into the story β rubbing wings, so to speak, with the likes of Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, and the Man of Steel himself. Seven appearances may sound modest, but in the company of comics royalty across three flagship titles, Cuckoo Bird is exactly the kind of offbeat Silver Age gem that makes long-box diving such a joy.
