Matt Howarth
Matt Howarth is an American comic book writer and artist best known for his offbeat, self-published series *Those Annoying Post Bros.*, *Savage Henry*, *Star Crossed*, and *Bugtown*. Born in the United States, he entered the comics scene in the early 1980s, with his credited work spanning from 1982 to 2005 across 93 issues. Howarth’s path into comics was rooted in the underground and alternative press, where he developed a distinctive, line-heavy style that blended science fiction, surreal humor, and punk-rock energy. He often served as his own writer, artist, colorist, inker, and letterer, giving his books a singular, handcrafted feel. His key collaborators included fellow indie creators, though his most enduring partnerships were with the characters and worlds he invented himself. Among his notable co-creations are the chaotic *Those Annoying Post Bros.* and the psychedelic *Bugtown* series, as well as the *Keif Llama: Xeno-Tech* stories. Later in life, Howarth continued to work in small-press and webcomics, maintaining a cult following for his idiosyncratic narratives. While major mainstream awards eluded him, his influence is felt in the DIY ethos of alternative comics, and his work remains a touchstone for fans of off-kilter, creator-owned storytelling.
