M. K. Perker
1972–
M. K. Perker, born Mustafa Kutlukhan Perker on 2 November 1972, is a Turkish artist best known for his expressive, detail-rich work on American comics. He entered the industry through European and Turkish publications before breaking into the U.S. market. Perker gained prominence as the artist on *Air*, a Vertigo series written by G. Willow Wilson, and later contributed to *The Unwritten*, also for Vertigo. His style—fluid linework with a keen sense of character and atmosphere—defined the graphic novel *Cairo*, again with Wilson. He also illustrated *Todd, The Ugliest Kid on Earth* and the Sandman-universe series *The Dreaming: Waking Hours*. Perker’s collaborations with Wilson are particularly notable, blending fantastical settings with grounded human emotion. His work often features intricate backgrounds and expressive faces, lending a distinct visual identity to his projects. Later in his career, he continued to work across comics and illustration, maintaining a presence in the industry through 2023. While major awards are not widely recorded, his contributions to Vertigo’s mature-reader line have earned him a dedicated following. Perker remains active, with his art celebrated for its narrative clarity and cultural depth.
