The Unwritten #32
Vertigo's The Unwritten reaches issue #32 with a cover by Yuko Shimizu that stops you cold: a woman presses her face and hands urgently against a glowing doorway, her wide eye peering through glass as snow swirls all around, while a figure lies motionless in the foreground with what appears to be a gun nearby. The contrast between that warm rectangle of light and the bleak, wintry world outside gives the image a quietly desperate, unsettling tension. Part two of "Tommy Taylor and the War of Words" continues inside, with the series' creative team of Carey, Gross, and Perker carrying forward one of Vertigo's most thoughtful explorations of storytelling and identity.
