Jim Baikie
James George Baikie was born on 28 February 1940 in Scotland and died on 29 December 2017. A Scottish comics artist and musician, he is best remembered for his collaboration with writer Alan Moore on the science-fiction series *Skizz*, which showcased his expressive, detailed linework. Baikie entered the comics industry in the late 1960s and remained active for five decades, contributing as an artist, colorist, inker, and occasional writer across 76 issues. His most prominent credits include *Electric Warrior*, *The Victorian*, and *Star Love Stories*, as well as work on *New Statesmen* and *Clive Barker’s Night Breed*. He also contributed to *Bastei Comic Edition*. Baikie’s style was characterized by a clean, dynamic approach that suited both genre fiction and character-driven stories. Beyond comics, he pursued music, though his visual storytelling remained his primary legacy. His later years saw continued work in the field, and he received recognition for his long career, though specific major awards are not recorded in available sources. Baikie’s body of work, particularly his partnership with Moore, remains a touchstone for fans of British comics.
