Jesse Santos
Jesse Santos was a Filipino comics artist best known for co-creating the sword-and-sorcery series *Dagar the Invincible* and the prehistoric adventure *Tragg and the Sky Gods* alongside writer Donald F. Glut. Born on June 24, 1928, in the Philippines, Santos began his comics career in the 1970s, working primarily as an artist, inker, and colorist. His style blended dynamic action with detailed, atmospheric linework, well-suited for the fantasy and horror genres. He was a prolific contributor to Gold Key Comics, most notably on *The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor*, and also worked on *Brothers of the Spear*. Santos’s work reached European audiences through translated series like *Gänsehaut* and *Grusel-Comics*. He remained active in the industry until the early 1980s, leaving behind a body of work that influenced the look of American genre comics during that era. Santos passed away on April 27, 2013. His legacy endures among collectors and fans of classic sword-and-sorcery and horror comics.
