Ian McGinty

James Ian McGinty (May 6, 1985 – June 8, 2023) was an American comic book writer and artist best known for his creator-owned series *Welcome to Showside* and his contributions to *Adventure Time* and *Bee and PuppyCat*. Born in the United States, McGinty entered comics through his energetic, cartoon-inspired art style, which made him a natural fit for licensed all-ages properties. He worked primarily as an artist, colorist, and inker across 18 issues from 2013 to 2019, with his most frequent credits appearing on *Adventure Time*, *Bravest Warriors*, *Munchkin*, *Adventure Time: Candy Capers*, *Glint: Cloud Raiders*, and *Rocko's Modern Afterlife*. His bold lines and vibrant palettes brought a playful, kinetic quality to these titles, often collaborating with writers and editors at BOOM! Studios and Oni Press. McGinty’s signature creation, *Welcome to Showside*, showcased his knack for blending supernatural humor with heartfelt character dynamics. Later in his career, he continued to work on franchise comics while developing his own projects. His sudden passing in 2023 at age 38 left a gap in the indie-comics community, where he was remembered for his generosity and distinct visual voice.
