Adventure Time: Candy Capers #5

The penultimate chapter of this six-issue KaBOOM! miniseries brings some wonderfully weird energy, with cover art by Laura Birdsall showing Finn — sporting a spotted, candy-infected face and a dapper blue suit — looking startled as a large, round, mustachioed candy creature grabs hold of him inside what appears to be a treehouse setting. The contrast between Finn's alarm and the creature's gleefully lolling expression gives the scene a delightfully unhinged charm that feels right at home in the Land of Ooo. With "Reflections and Dark Confections" as the story title, writers Ananth Panagariya and Yuko Ota, artist Ian McGinty, and colorist Maarta Laiho promise one more sugary, unpredictable chapter before the series wraps up.
