Ian Boothby
Ian Boothby, born June 8, 1967, is a Canadian comic book writer who built his reputation primarily through long-running contributions to Bongo Comics, the publishing arm founded by Matt Groening. Over a career spanning more than two decades — with credits recorded from 1998 to 2021 across some 255 issues — Boothby served as the lead writer on both *Simpsons Comics* and *Futurama Comics*, translating the humor and character voices of those beloved animated properties onto the printed page with evident fluency. His bibliography at Bongo extended to titles including *Bongo Comics Presents Comic Book Guy: The Comic Book* and *Simpsons Illustrated*, demonstrating the breadth of his work within that universe. Beyond Bongo, he wrote *Exorsisters*, showing range outside licensed material. Boothby's sustained output in humor-driven, all-ages comics earned him recognition at the industry's highest levels: he is a multiple winner of the Eisner Award, the Harvey Award, and Canada's own Shuster Award — a combination that marks him as one of the more decorated writers working consistently in comedic mainstream comics during this period.
