Holly Black
Holly Black was born Holly Riggenbach on November 10, 1971, in the United States. She is an American author and editor best known for her young adult and children's fantasy fiction. Her most popular works include the *Folk of the Air* series, a *New York Times* bestseller, and *The Spiderwick Chronicles*, a children's fantasy series she co-created with writer and illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi. Black also wrote the *Modern Faerie Tales* trilogy, her debut young adult series. Her work has earned her a Nebula Award and a Newbery Honor. *The Spiderwick Chronicles* was adapted into a 2008 film and a 2023 television series; for the latter, she received a nomination for the Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Young Teen Series. In comics, Black is credited as a writer on 16 issues between 2012 and 2017, with her most frequent credits on *Lucifer*, *A Flight of Angels*, and the *Lumberjanes: Faire and Square 2017 Special*.
