Lucifer #6
Vertigo's 2016 series continues with "Son of the Morning," and Christopher Moeller's painted cover sets a quietly unsettling tone — a young person in a red jacket, headphones resting around their neck, glances back while the looming, silvery-blue visage of Lucifer dominates the shadowy background behind them. The contrast between the ordinary, street-level figure and that vast, otherworldly presence speaks to the series' strength: grounding the divine and the infernal in deeply human stakes. Holly Black and Stephanie Hans are doing some of the most atmospheric work at Vertigo in 2016, and this issue looks to be no exception.
