Gerry Finley-Day, born in 1947 in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is a Scottish comics writer whose most enduring creation is the blue-skinned genetic infantryman "Rogue Trooper." He entered the industry during the 1960s and remained prolific through the 1980s, carving out a career primarily in British war and adventure comics. His signature work emerged from the pages of *2000 AD*, where he devised the futuristic soldier, a lone survivor of a chemical war who carries the bio-chips of his fallen comrades. Finley-Day also contributed extensively to *Battle Picture Weekly*, *Valiant*, and *Commando*, writing gritty, action-driven stories that often explored the grim realities of conflict. He collaborated closely with artists such as Cam Kennedy and Mike Western, whose dynamic visuals brought his scripts to life. Beyond *Rogue Trooper*, his co-creations include the long-running *2000 AD* serial "The V.C.s." After his peak period, he stepped away from regular comics work in the 1980s, though his credits span from 1970 into the 2020s. While he did not receive major industry awards, his influence on British comics remains significant, particularly for introducing a morally complex, anti-heroic tone to war storytelling.
