“All Hell on the Dix-I Front, Part 8”

Prog 273 of 2000 AD (July 1982) spotlights "The League of Fatties," and Ron Smith's cover delivers the premise with gleeful energy — a massive, flame-haired protester mounted on a wheeled platform clutches a tray of pies while surrounded by demonstrators brandishing signs reading "Big People Need Big Meals" and "Make Pies — Not War!" Judge Dredd stands his ground beside the mob, deadpan as ever in his full uniform and helmet, the word "WHEEL!" bursting from his speech balloon. It's a wonderfully absurd slice of Mega-City One satire, wrapping sharp social commentary in the kind of outrageous spectacle that made 2000 AD essential reading in 1982.
