Dennis Neville was an American comic book artist active during the Golden Age, best known as the co-creator of the DC Comics hero Hawkman, along with his ally Hawkgirl and the villain Hath-Set. Born in the United States, Neville’s career in comics began in the late 1930s, and he worked on several notable features of the era, though he never achieved the fame of his contemporaries. His most recognized work appeared in *Flash Comics* and *More Fun Comics*, where he contributed to the early development of superhero storytelling. Neville also illustrated for *Comic Cavalcade*, handling features such as "Carl Akeley, He Brought Us Africa," "Heroes in Dungarees," and "The Twain Shall Meet." His style was typical of the period—bold, energetic, and foundational to the visual language of early superhero comics. While his output was modest, with credits on only 18 issues across his career, his co-creation of Hawkman left a lasting mark on DC’s mythology. Neville’s later life remains largely undocumented, and he passed away at some point after his active years. He has not been widely honored with major awards, but his role in shaping one of DC’s enduring characters ensures his place in comic book history.
