David Gerstein
1944–
David Gerstein (born February 6, 1974) is an American comics author, editor, and animation historian best known for his extensive work on Disney comics. He has written numerous stories featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, and is particularly noted for his American English script doctoring of stories originally written in other languages. Gerstein's writing often incorporates playful literary references, including humorous paraphrases of Shakespeare, Gilbert and Sullivan, and T.S. Eliot.
His career in comics began with work for Egmont Creative A/S, a Danish studio, and later Gemstone Publishing. He has since contributed to various Egmont affiliates and Fantagraphics Books. Gerstein has been credited as a writer, colorist, and letterer on over 100 issues from 1994 to 2026, with his most frequent titles including *Walt Disney's Comics and Stories*, *Donald Duck & Co*, *Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge*, *Donald Duck*, *Mickey Mouse*, and *Uncle Scrooge*.
He has authored five books and countless comic book credits. His signature style blends classic Disney storytelling with scholarly wit, and he remains a key figure in preserving and translating the global Disney comics legacy.
