Angelo Stano
Angelo Stano was born on 6 January 1953 in Italy. He is best known as the primary artist for the long-running horror comic series *Dylan Dog*, for which he drew the very first story and served as the series' cover artist through issue no. 363, before being succeeded by Luigi Cavenago. Stano’s path into comics led him to become a defining visual force on *Dylan Dog*, where his moody, atmospheric linework and expressive character designs helped establish the book’s gothic-noir identity. Over a career spanning from 1986 to 2024, he is credited as artist, colorist, inker, and writer on 53 issues, with his work appearing in titles such as *Dylan Dog*, *Dylan Dog / Dilan Dog*, *Dylan Dog Collezione Book*, *Dylan Dog: Attraverso lo specchio*, *Il Signore del Silenzio*, and *Collana Almanacchi*. His collaborations with writer Tiziano Sclavi on the early *Dylan Dog* stories are particularly noted for shaping the series’ tone. Stano’s legacy is that of a foundational artist who gave visual life to one of Italian comics’ most enduring characters. He has received major industry recognition, including the prestigious Yellow Kid Award.
