Zenith
Zenith is a self-absorbed British pop star who also happens to be a superhero, debuting in 2000 AD #535 in 1987. Created for the British anthology comic, he is the product of a government super-soldier program from the 1960s, inheriting powers from his deceased superhero parents.
Grant Morrison and Steve Yeowell launched Zenith into the pages of 2000 AD back in 1987, and this Fleetway creation has been turning heads in British comics ever since β a Copper Age arrival who helped define a sharper, more ironic edge in superhero storytelling. With 73 catalogued appearances spanning an impressive 36 years, Zenith is no flash in the pan; two of those issues carry genuine key-issue status, making them essential stops for any serious collector. The company is stellar throughout β sharing pages with the likes of Johnny Alpha, Chopper, and Peter St John, Zenith runs with some of 2000 AD's most iconic figures. If you've ever wanted to understand why British comics punched so far above their weight in the late '80s and beyond, Zenith is exactly where to start.
