“11: London's Burning”

Released on Halloween 1987, this 2000 AD prog sets a fittingly sinister mood with John Hicklenton's striking cover depicting a gaunt, cape-spread demonic figure looming over a pale, wide-eyed face emerging from the shadows below, flanked by guttering candles and the bold declaration "Nemesis Knows!" The tagline "Who Knows Where Evil Lurks…?" and the promise of a new Nemesis thrill starting this very prog make it a genuinely atmospheric package. Inside, writer Grant Morrison and artist Steve Yeowell continue their work alongside the Judge Dredd universe in a prog that clearly had Halloween atmosphere baked right into its release date.
