Who is Vykin the Black?

Vykin is a New God hailing from the celestial world of New Genesis, and a core member of the young, idealistic Forever People. Gifted with an extraordinary intellect—second only to Metron among all of New Genesis—he combines innate mechanical aptitude with deep electronics expertise.

Vykin the Black made his entrance in the very first issue of Jack Kirby's The Forever People in 1971 — and if you know anything about the King's Bronze Age ambitions at DC, you know that's a debut worth paying attention to. Born from Kirby's sweeping New Gods mythology, Vykin is one of those characters whose origins carry the full weight of a creator at the height of his cosmic imagination. Across five decades of DC publishing, he's kept remarkable company — sharing adventures with the likes of Beautiful Dreamer, Mark Moonrider, Big Bear, and Serifan, as well as crossing paths with Green Lantern himself. With a key-issue appearance to his name and a lasting presence in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe, Vykin is a character who rewards the curious collector willing to dig into one of the most distinctive corners of the DC cosmos.
